Thunderbolts scored tight win over Sluggers

Thunderbolts won the toss and chose to bat on a warm Saturday evening. Vignesh started proceedings for Sluggers against Vinothkumar and Santosh. He was able to get the leading edge of Santosh, however was put down at short third. Thunderbolts lost their 1st wicket courtesy a run out in the 5th over and were 14/1 at the end of 5. At the halfway mark, Thunderbolts were 37/2. At this stage Santosh and Deepak stiched a partnership and took the score to 60 at the end of 15 overs, where Santosh was bowled by a jaffa from Venkat. Venkat also picked up a couple of wickets in the first 2 balls of the 17th over and completed an impressive bowling performance. Sensible batting from Thunderbolts and a bunch of dropped catches resulted in them scoring 84/6 at the end of 1st innings. Venkat was the standout bowler with 4/7. Vignesh also had an economical outing with 1/12. 
 

Sluggers started their innings and lost their openers within 2.3 overs for 8 runs. Batsmen Vishnu and Venkat struck a decent partnership  before the latter was caught by Prabath off Vinothkumar bowling. Vinothkumar struck once more in the same over and Sluggers were reeling behind at 24/4 at then end of 7 overs. Vishnu and Naveen added 16 quick runs in the next 2.3 overs keeping the required run rate in check, when Naveen was caught in the deep by Riyas off Philip’s bowling. Thunderbolts began to pile up pressure on Sluggers and were reduced to 57/7 at then end of 15 overs. Vishnu was battling the lone fight at one end and scored 28 runs. In the end Sluggers were all bowled out for 67 runs in 18.4 overs. Philip bowled an impressive spell and picked up 5 wickets conceding only 6 runs. Deepak also bowled well picking up 2/7.
